CARPD Capitol Visit 2026

On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, CARPD Board Members spent the day at the Capitol meeting with legislators to go over a number of key issues affecting Recreation and Park Districts. This is the Board Members’ fourth consecutive year championing these efforts in person. During their visit they had the opportunity to meet with Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco, Assembly Local Government Committee; Assemblymember Juan Carrillo, Assembly Local Government Committee, and Stephanie Mitchell, Assembly Water, Park, Wildlife Committee, among others. Discussion was centered on several priority areas, including: CARPD legislative priorities, Housing and impact fees, Grant funding opportunities, and state budget. This was another highly successful opportunity for meaningful, in-person engagement with our legislators. Our Board Members remain committed to advocating for policies and decisions that best support and strengthen recreation and park districts.

Thank you to each of our CARPD Board Members for your participation in each meet and greet. And, a huge thank you to our Legislative Advocates, Dane Hutchings, and Ethan Nagler of CPPG, for your hard work in scheduling the meetings and making sure our Board Members were prepared for these important discussions. We will continue to advocate with purpose and determination.
