CAPRI

The California Association for Park and Recreation Indemnity, CAPRI, is a self-insurance program that combines the resources of member districts to gain the operational base necessary to provide insurance on a volume basis while allowing flexibility in meeting the unique coverage requirements of the participants.

CAPRI is one of the 150 Joint Powers Authorities (JPA) in the State of California. JPA’s were designed and developed to meet the specific needs of the member entities, many of which were formed to provide insurance coverages, risk management safety and loss prevention services. This program of self-insurance is permitted under Government Code Sections 6500 and 990.8. CAPRI provides self-insurance and related services to members of CARPD.
